"Mount Baker: The Active Volcano In Our Backyard" Volcanologist, author and director of the non-profit Mount Baker Volcano Research Center (MBVRC) Dave Tucker presents a geological history of Mount Baker and potential risks to the area, as well as facts about the Cascadia Subduction Zone as discussed in the recent New Yorker Magazine article "The Really Big One". Presented by Whatcom County Preppers, a non-profit, strictly non-political emergency preparedness and self-sustainability educational organization, this informative talk is available to limited seating, with food and drink during intermissions provided by area businesses. Also discussed by WCP will be personal emergency preparedness assessments and creating efficient emergency kits as suggested by the American Red Cross, FEMA and other response agencies.
